When I made my school's varsity squad as a freshman, my coach recommended Kiara to my dad and I. It took a couple lessons for me to really see some improvement, but right away Kiara started helping me with my pitches. We worked with weighted balls, and she even videotaped me so I could see how I looked on camera… Through it all Kiara has been a positive influence on my pitching career, and I attribute so much of my current success to her. She really understands where I'm coming from and the things I'm going through, and helps me not only with the physical aspects of pitching but also the mental part of the game.

Welcome to Pure Pitching! My name is Kiara Boyle (formerly Zalewski). Are you sick of everyone claiming to be "the best" pitching coach around? Me, too! The fact is, there are as many different styles of pitching as there are pitching coaches to teach them. I believe that each pitcher should have a basic set of mechanics that are widely accepted as proper technique. After that, it really is a matter of style. I don't believe in a cookie cutter approach to pitching, I teach what works best for your daughter.

I offer everything from private lessons to group clinics. I also have assembled a list of drills to help my students with pitching skills as well as balance and strength. Many pitching coaches won't post these drills for fear of losing clients. The fact is, most people have the same drills! Sure, there might be a few unique ones around, but for the most part, it won't be things you couldn't find elsewhere. I believe that developing a pitcher requires more than just teaching her the fundamentals through drills. I also focus on her strength, flexibility, mental attitude, strategy, balance, defensive skills and encouraging a love of the game. I have realistic views on a pitcher's ability level and I don't advance the girls beyond their current capabilities.

Besides my extensive pitching career, I also hold a California teaching credential. I have found that, just as in education, knowledge of a particular subject does not always translate into being a good teacher. I feel that I am able to instruct pitchers thoroughly regardless of whether they are visual, auditory or kinesthetic learners. I also have a bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine, so I am vigilant about keeping my students healthy as well. I think that these aspects combined with my experience both as a player and a coach make me a unique individual and only increase my abilities as a private instructor.

I encourage students to take what they have learned from me and "self-diagnose" themselves while pitching. Let's face it, everyone would be a better pitcher if they had their coach sitting next to them on the mound! Of course, this is just not a possibility, so I believe in teaching the girls how to recognize when they are doing something wrong and how to correct it immediately.

I hope that some of my unique qualities will encourage you to let me be a part of your daughter's life! After all, you aren't just hiring a pitching coach, but someone who will become a part of your extended family.
